Hi!

I just ordered my Empeg Player from carplayer.com and waites with great inpatiance =)
But when I was thinking how to build it in to my (soon to be delivered Audi A4 Avant TDI), does it support the telemute that exist on most players? It may seem trivial but I usually dont hear my phone because of the volume =)

I'm thinking of connecting Empeg to my Sony C8900 throu an Sony XA-300 or to get a "aux-switcher" that let me connect both the sony and the empeg directly to my amplifier. What should you do?

Have some more questions but I'll start with these. =)

Todays linux tip: A shell-script, "abcde", as a frontend to Lame, ID3v2, cdparanoia etc. to linux, it does all the work for you! Organizes, names, id3v2-tagging and more! http://lly.org/~rcw/abcde/page/

Yes, there is phone detection: you can set the level of detection as well (12 or 0 Volts). Even better, you can set the reaction the player makes, either mute and continue playing, or stop playing (silence). I have successfully connected two head units and set them up so that they both mute when the phone rings.

Well, is you are satisfied with your Sony HU sound quality then connecting empeg to its aux input is something to be considered, mostly due to simplicity. Of course, the other solution gives you more freedom and flexibility in designing the rest of the system.

BTW, contrary to many old hands here, I think that having another HU configured to be able to work without the empeg is a good idea (for short drives to the supermarket when one doesn't bother to bring empeg, for drives to destinations where one doesn't want to bring empeg, when empeg is digesting a long sync, to hear a new CD on the way home...)

You can also set up the mute line so it will automatically switch to aux. Though I haven't tried it myself yet.

I plan on dumping my Alpine CD player, and then putting in a car kit for my Samsung I300 and hooking the audio through the aux. Can't wait to try the auto-switch to aux trick.
